The Chito Foundation warmly invites you to its 1st Holiday Social to benefit the "11th Annual Food Baskets for Salvi Fundraiser". You're cordially invited to Chito Foundation Holiday Social + Fundraiser to benefit #FoodBasketForSalvi! Join us for a special evening with friends and family as we come for a good cause. What a fun time to get together and meet others in your community! Homelessness and hunger are two critical issues very dear to our family's hearts. In 2011, our beautiful mother Maria Amparo Lemus founded a random act of kindness initiative the #FoodBasketsForSalvi project, an effort to help needy families have a meal on Christmas day. When you donate $35 to #FoodBasketForSalvi, you will touch the life of an entire family facing poverty and hunger in El Salvador, San Salvador. Let's make an impact together! We are asking that you not only attend or pay-it-forward (you can also donate to sponsor a ticket for another person to attend) TELL YOUR FRIENDS! So, it was no surprise to us when she decided to provide “Christmas Baskets” to families back in El Salvador, San Salvador. These food baskets provide a family of 4-6 people with ingredients to make their own Christmas meal. Families are pre-selected by four churches we work with in conjunction with Father Oscar Alvarado who together with a group of volunteers carry out this outreach in their communities. The first year she started this project, she was able to get 10 families sponsored. The second year, she was able to provide to 20 families. Fast forward to 2019, we were able to collect over 100 + baskets. This project started as a family effort and have now opened it up for everyone to help as the country's necessity is bigger than ever. The basket consists of the following: 1 chicken, 5 lbs. of rice, 5 lbs. of beans, 5 lbs. of sugar, 1 bottle of oil, 2 liters of soda, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, and spices for the chicken Our maternal family in El Salvador purchases all the items including the basket, wraps it up and delivers them to the families personally on December 23rd.
