This Winter we're hosting a series of "Lunch & Conversations w/Jamaa", to learn from our clients, stakeholders, and the community we serve. You're invited to gather around a warm fire place, with lunch and conversations with our team at Jamaa Birth Village. After 6-years of successfully providing care for over 800 families, certifying over 200 Doulas, training hundreds of clinic and hospital staff in the St. Louis metro area, and shifting the entire Maternal Health landscape in St. Louis, Missouri, we're eager to learn more from those we've served, partnered with, and those who live in our communities. Our goal with our lunch and coversations are to learn more about what we're doing right, practices we can improve on, and brilliant ways that we can expand our work. Our series includes the following sessions: Tuesday December 7th: Past and Current Jamaa Birth Village Clients & Students Tuesday December 14th: Past & Current Stakeholders & Partners Tuesday December 21st : Community Members As a thank you for attending, an organic, GMO free, lunch and a gift card will be provided for your time, feedback and critique. Gluten-free and vegan options will be available. Welcome to the village, a sacred and safe space for expectant people and families in St. Louis! Jamaa Birth Village (formerly known as Community Birth & Wellness Center) is a 501c3 non-profit organization in Ferguson, Missouri. Founded in October 2015, Jamaa Birth Village has worked with over 250 families in providing perinatal care, further lowering infant and maternal mortality rates that are significantly higher for African-American women. Jamaa, pronounced Jah-mah, means family in Swahili, and our main focuses are to enhance individual care and empower families by celebrating cultural heritage in a community care setting to combat racial and health inequities and increasing access to quality and affordable client based care.
