An evening of Conversation, Conservation and Cocktails Faena Art and Bridge Initiative present an evening of conversation, conservation and cocktails at the gilded Faena Theater. Join Sven Lindblad, Founder of Lindblad Expeditions, Dr Andy Szabo, Director of the Alaska Whale Foundation and a National Geographic Explorer And Kate Fleming Founder/ Director of Bridge Initiative, as they discuss the health of our changing oceans. This event will be recorded for a new National Geographic podcast, and followed by an auction to raise funds for Alaska Whale Foundation’s Ocean Health Program. Alaska Whale Foundation (AWF) is a Nonprofit research organization based in Petersburg, Alaska. Since 1996, AWF has been supporting impassioned scientists and research initiatives that promote the conservation of marine mammals and coastal ecosystems. AWF’s work is supported by the National Geographic Society, Lindblad Expeditions, the North Pacific Research Board, and several benefactors. Recently, AWF launched the Ocean Health Program, a collaborative, multifaceted initiative to address the impacts of ocean warming on Alaska’s marine ecosystem. Lindblad Expeditions (LEX) is an innovative, carbon-neutral travel company that offers small-ship-based expeditions to the world’s wildest places. As part of its commitment to the planet, LEX has built ground-breaking programs in education, empowered local artisans, and provided research platforms for scientists, all while providing transformative travel experiences in the world’s most remarkable places. In 2004, LEX formed a strategic alliance with National Geographic that combines the strengths of two pioneers in global exploration, with a mission to inspire curious, intelligent people to explore and care about the planet. Bridge Initiative is a Nonprofit Organization that connects artists and scientists to promote environmental advocacy through the creation of public art. Bridge’s mission is to shift the collective consciousness in a way that makes the health of our planet a priority. To date, Bridge has collaborated with artists, designers, and contemporary leaders such as David Benjamin Sherry, Alaska Whale Foundation, Coral Morphologic, NOAA, Michele Oka Doner, Orlando Estrada, The Everglades Foundation, Path of The Panther, The Reefline and Carlos Betancourt among others. FAENA ART is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that houses and produces post-disciplinary and time-based experiences. A catalyst for innovative, site-specific, and immersive creative practices, Faena Art is a transformative bridge across the Americas, between the south and the north, the popular and the experimental. Faena Art fosters new models for performative social interaction that transcend the traditional boundaries of art, science, philosophy, and social practice.
