NORTHPORT, NY — Chippy and Roo, kittens who have been best friends since they met as babies, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week. And they love people just as much as they love each other, said Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue. Roo is a 5-month-old little girl, who has adorable markings and fur like a bunny, according to Wild. She was rescued from a colony of cats as a baby and went straight into foster care. "There she thrived with the other cats and dogs that she is being fostered with," Wild said. "Everything about Roo is delicate and gentle. Her purr is soothing and she loves to cuddle on the couch with her foster family. When Chippy arrived into the home, it was love at first sight for the both of them." "He is very affectionate and loves to be held and cuddled," Wild said. "He will play nonstop with anyone who is willing to engage with him." Roo took a liking to Chippy and cuddled him and taught him how to play, as well as how to groom himself, according to Wild. "They have complete adoration for one another, and look for each other when the other is not around," she said. "As much as they love each other, they will greet their foster family each morning and come running to see them whenever they enter a room. These kittens have been with people nonstop since arriving and think they are part of the gang." They get along with the two dogs in the foster home, according to Wild. "Chippy actually thinks he is a dog when he's hanging out with them. He remembers he's a cat when he is with Roo." "You can not help but smile to see the love they have for each other," Wild said. "These 2 will fill any home with joy and we hope to find them their forever home together, to grow up with each other and feel loved always." Chippy and Roo are spayed and neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative. If you are interested in meeting Chippy and Roo, you can head to the Northport Cat Rescue Association website and fill out an application to let them know you would like to meet them or any of the other kittens and cats.
