Press release from the City of Spokane: 2021-12-07 Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward has directed that all flags at City facilities remain lowered to coincide with President Joseph R. Biden's directive that state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities be lowered on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, for National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. "We encourage anyone with a flag outside their home or business to join us in honoring the Americans killed and injured 80 years ago during the Pearl Harbor attack," said Mayor Woodward. In 1994, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day was created by Congress to honor the 2,403 Americans who lost their lives and the more than 1,000 service members who were wounded in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
