Lamborghini Greenwich Celebrates Grand Opening

GREENWICH, CT — Lamborghini Greenwich, the newest addition to the row of car dealerships along West Putnam Avenue, celebrated its grand opening last Thursday night in impressive style. Lamborghinis of all colors lined the outside the state-of-the-art showroom at 300 W. Putnam Ave., the former site of Greenwich Hardware. Inside the approximately 3,000 square foot showroom, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Stephan Winkelmann, participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with dealer principal, Robert DiStanislao. The showroom unofficially opened in January; there are now 38 Lamborghini showrooms in the United States. Winkelmann told Patch before the ribbon-cutting ceremony that the company takes grand opening events seriously. "It's about the community. It's an important moment because you get to know your partner, you get to know the customers," Winkelmann said. "You have the opportunity to speak to them and understand what they think and how they see the brand, and what they like." Winklemann said Greenwich is an important location for a showroom since it will serve customers in Fairfield County and across the tri-state area. Greenwich itself also has a strong car culture and is "a community with high net worth individuals," Winkelmann noted. The showroom, which also has a service center, includes a state-of-the-art Ad Personam configuration room which allows customers to physically touch and play with their own combinations of colors and materials, like soft leathers and carbon fiber details, customizing the Lamborghini of their dreams. DiStanislao said it took about four years for the showroom to come to fruition. After Greenwich Hardware was torn down and construction dug through the foundation, remnants from when the Brooklyn Bridge was built were found at the site. The debris was taken to Greenwich and dumped. DiStanislao said soil at the site also had to be replaced. "I couldn't be more proud to be sharing this moment with our favorite dealer partners," he said. DiStanislao is the owner of RDS Enterprises, which currently owns and operates stores for Porsche, McLaren, and Maserati. "Lamborghini has remained true to the brand. More than any other brand, you represent the greatest heritage on earth," DiStanislao added. Aside from the design, performance and history of the brand, Winkelmann said he loves the family-feel of Automobili Lamborghini. There are about 2,000 employees around the world. "We still have a family feeling," Winkelmann said. "The passion people have for the business is something you usually do not find in other companies, car company or not." According to the company, Automobili Lamborghini is on track to meet its best year ever in terms of record sales. A new showroom is opening soon in Philadelphia.
