USA Wheelchair Rugby Names 2 Denverites On 2022 Training Squad

DENVER, CO — Two Denverites are among 16 athletes who have been selected for the USA Wheelchair Rugby National Training Squad for 2022, the organization announced Monday. Denver athletes Josh O'Neill and Adam Scaturro were chosen from a group of 32 players who attended a team selection camp at Lakeshore Foundation over the weekend. "It is an honor to continue to be part of such an elite program," Scaturro said. "This team of men and women is by far one of the best training squads I've ever been on. With so many big changes coming after Tokyo, I know we are excited to get back out there and take on the world." The team is set to compete in international competitions next year in the U.S., Colombia, Canada and Denmark. "I am honored to be selected as one of the 16 athletes for this year's training squad," O'Neill said. "We have a great group of men and women, and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish together!" "We believe we have selected the team that will give us the best opportunity to compete for gold in the 2022 World Championships and set us up for our journey toward the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris." The team's next training camp in Birmingham, Alabama, is scheduled for Feb. 16-20. The Lakeshore Foundation is the home of USA Wheelchair Rugby. Team members and staff travel from across the country to Birmingham several times each year for training camps and competitions. The team's international competitions will also include the Four Nations tournament at Lakeshore, which is scheduled for March 14-20, 2022.
