Press release from Kendall County Sheriff's Office: 12/06/2021 11:30 AM FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mokena Man Charged With Solicitation of Murder for Hire Mokena Man Charged With Solicitation of Murder for Hire Kendall County, IL (December 6, 2021, 11:30 AM) In September of 2021, Kendall County Sheriff's Detectives became aware of an inmate being held at the Kendall County Jail approaching multiple inmates in an attempt to hire someone to murder a Judge and a Police Officer.  These individuals, who work in a neighboring county, were specifically targeted by the suspect based on his ongoing criminal case.  The individuals who were targeted were immediately alerted to the threats.  An investigation was initiated during which time the inmate was carefully monitored to ensure the safety of those whom he was attempting to target.  An undercover Illinois State Police officer was utilized during the investigation, and the suspect made arrangements with the undercover officer to kill the Judge and the Police Officer. On November 23, 2021, the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office charged Michael S. Swift, a 30-year-old man from Mokena, with 2 counts of Solicitation of Murder for Hire, and 2 counts of Solicitation of Murder, all of which are Class X felonies.  Prior to this Swift had no Kendall County charges and was being housed on behalf of Lasalle County on charges of Murder and Abuse of a Corpse.
