PITTSBURGH, PA — University of Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett is one of four finalists for college football's most prestigious awards: the Heisman Trophy.
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud and Michigan defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson also will attend the awards ceremony on Saturday. The winner will be announced at 8 p.m.
Young is the favorite to win the award, but Pickett certainly would be a worthy winner. He led the Panthers to their first Atlantic Coast Conference title with a 10-2 record, the best Pitt finish in four decades.
He also has thrown for 4,319 yards and 42 touchdowns with just seven interceptions.
Pickett is almost assuredly a first-round NFL draft pick in April.
He will have one more game in the spotlight. Pitt plays Michigan State in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 30 in Atlanta.
