Ho Ho Ho Holy cow, it's December already???? We're set and ready to engage in the 17th Hope and Friendship Foundation Christmas Outreach! There are plenty of ways to get involved and items that we need donated to make this the biggest and best ever. Homes that are battling sickness; loss of a loved one a spouse or child or parent; financial, physical, and/or emotional struggles that leave the home incapable of pulling together Christmas dinner for their family; seniors who will be alone on Christmas Day may we be the reason some gather together having us provide the bounty of food! I hope to offer so many options for hands and feet so that anyone that wants to get involved has the opportunity to do so. Here we goooooo……. At Home, or Small Group Community Service Opportunity: Write out notes or cards that will go in the Care Bags and Meal Boxes. You will never understand the power of kind words written out so you can read, and re-read them over and over, until you are in need of them. I have received and delivered hundreds of your notes over the years to homebound, those battling cancer, those who have suffered the loss of a loved one, homeless, those who are ill, those who are alone on holidays, our senior friends, and even some of our young friends who need to see and feel the positive impact of the archaic act of a hand written uplifting note. Write those notes in cards, on paper, on note cards, whatever you have that can deliver an uplifting encouraging message…use it! Please drop off the notes by Tuesday December 21st to the bin in the entryway of Old Quarry Middle School, the bin in the entryway of the Lemont Police Dept., the bin at Starbucks Lemont, at Digs on Canal (316 Canal Street in Downtown Lemont, or in Blue the Trailblazer in my driveway. Work, home, group, Church, school, team Community Service Opportunity: We will be dropping off the gift of a Christmas Care Bag alongside of the Christmas Dinner. I have a vision to go bigger than we've ever done before, I want to create 150 Christmas Care Bags so that we can deliver some support to some homes that don't need a Christmas Dinner (because they will be at another table on that day) but who need the assistance of the items that struggling homes have difficulty keeping stock on: personal care items, paper products, cleaning products. Place a bin out and gather all you can then being it to the entryway of Old Quarry Middle School by 3pm Tuesday December 21st. This is a great opportunity to involve your kids in shopping for items that they don't realize are so hard to come by in a home of a peer. Youth themed hair products, colognes, nail polish, make up, etc. All of the items they enjoy having are HUGE gifts for a home that is struggling to make ends meet. What we would love to have for these Christmas Care Bags: *Any and all personal care items: deodorant, cologne, shampoo, soap (liquid and bar), lotions, brushes, razors, shaving cream, feminine products, hair/face/skin products, whatever you use I to ask you to buy a #PlusOne and offer that to our Care Bags. *Paper Products: toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, tissues, paper plates, etc. *Cleaning Products: laundry detergent (GOLD item! Everyone needs to do laundry!), disinfectants (wipes, sprays), glass cleaner, stain remover for clothing, softener, bleach, kitchen sponges, bath cleaners, furniture polish, air fresheners, dish detergent, whatever you use in your home I ask you to buy a #PlusOne and offer that to our Care Bags. *Please drop your donations to the bin in the Old Quarry entryway, the bin in the entryway of the Lemont Police Dept., the bin at Starbucks Lemont, at the bin by the Christmas Tree at Digs on Canal (316 Canal Street in Downtown Lemont, or in Blue the Trailblazer in my driveway.
