Press release from the City of Oklahoma City: 12/07/2021 7:47 AM Candidates may file now through Dec. 8 to run in the City of Oklahoma City's mayoral election, with voting in the general election set for Feb. 8. The Mayor will be elected to a four-year term with an annual salary of $24,000. If only one candidate files, that candidate is elected and will be sworn in as Mayor in April. If multiple candidates file, the Feb. 8 primary election winner will become the Mayor if that candidate wins a majority of the votes. If no candidate wins a majority in the general election, the two candidates with the most votes will stand in a runoff election April 5. The Mayor, who is elected at-large, and one Council member representing each of Oklahoma City's eight Wards comprise the Oklahoma City Council. Voting information All Oklahoma City voters are eligible to vote in the election. To find your polling location, look at your voter ID card or use the Oklahoma State Election Board website at ok.gov/elections. The deadline to register to vote in the election is Jan. 14. Visit ok.gov/elections to download a voter registration application. The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the primary election is 5 p.m. Jan. 24. Early voting for the general election is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 3-4. Voters who have disabilities can find more information about voter assistance in Oklahoma at ok.gov/elections. Candidate information To be a candidate for Oklahoma City Mayor, you must be: Candidates must submit a written declaration of candidacy, along with how the candidate wants his or her name to appear on the ballot. Candidates must include a cashier's or certified check for $200, or a petition supporting the filing signed by at least 2,500 registered voters eligible to vote for the candidate. The check will be returned if the candidate is unopposed, receives more than 15 percent of the votes cast in the general election or advances to the runoff election. Candidates must file their declaration of candidacy and check or petition to the Oklahoma County Election Board, 4201 N Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73105-5210, (405) 713-1515.
