Brief Summary: Sets up, breaks down and assists all traffic control and work zones. Responsible for safely executing job details as described by crew leader. ACTIVITES/TASKS • Distributes traffic control cones, barrels, arrow boards etc. along roadside or other designated areas • Directs traffic using signs or flags • Operates company vehicles, including those with truck mounted attenuators • Completes Pre/Post Trip Inspection forms, timecards, and all other documentation legibly and on time • Arrives to work on time and possesses or is able to arrange reliable transportation daily • Keeps vehicles clean and removes trash from vehicles daily • Acts as professional representative of the company • Adheres to Richmond Traffic Control, Inc. Employee Handbook. • Other duties as assigned PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES DESIRED • High School Diploma or GED preferable • VDOT Flagger Certification • Knowledge of traffic control process • English language, reading writing and speaking skills • Creative problem-solving skills • Ability to take direction either written or oral PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. • Subject to excessive periods of sitting, standing, bending, and walking • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs • Ability to lift repetitively 20 lbs • Will be exposed to excessive heat, cold and road/construction noise • Long hours and overtime may be required • May be required to work varied shift schedule • Reliable transportation required SAFETY REQUIREMENTS • Follow Richmond Traffic Control Employee Safety Manual at all times. • Follows VDOT regulations as pertains to job. • Follows customer safety manuals and or instructions at all times if applicable. • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as pertaining to job site requirements: eye/face protection, toe protection, hard hats, protective clothing. • Attends all site safety meetings.
