Join us for a meet & greet, and book signing with creator of A La Brava Universe of Latina Superheroes: Kayden Phoenix! Kayden Phoenix is the founder of Phoenix Studios and Creator/Writer of A La Brava, Latina superhero graphic novel series. Her mission is to create a superhero mindset in every marginalized individual regardless of age, demographic, socio-economic class, etc. Starting off as writer and director from Boyle Heights, California; upon entering the film industry, the first thing she noticed was the industry dominated standard- complete with character generalizations. In response, she became a huge advocate for diversity both in front and behind the camera, giving a voice to stories untold. She plans on evening the playing field for the under-represented through her unique and diverse storytelling. Phoenix's passion for equality through art inspired her to expand her business into the comic world with her own company, Phoenix Studios. “A big part of my life’s purpose is to give voice to stories as multifaceted, atypical, and diverse as the people we find in the real world.” Join us in-store at MiJa Books for this family-friendly event, located at the Lakewood Center Mall, across from the Macy's Department store.
