Bear Down and Give Back on Monday February 14th, 2022 for the University of Arizona's first in person giving day competition! Sign up with your club/organization to compete in the First Annual In-Person Giving Day Competition! The winner of the competition will be awarded the opportunity to decide which on campus resource they would like to give a certain amount of money, provided by donors, to help further their programs and initiatives! The list of funds that you will be able to donate to are listed down below! The competition will consist of 3 games: - Hula Hoop Contest: Clubs/organizations will nominate one member to compete in the hula hoop contest. They will hula hoop for as long as they can while being challenged to do tasks such as stand on one leg and squat to the ground. Points will be given out based on who lasts the longest. - Ping Pong Ball on a Spoon Race: Clubs/organizations will nominate one member to compete in the race. The member will have to race down to the cones and back while balancing a ping pong ball on a spoon. If the ball is dropped they have to start over. - 3 Legged Race: Clubs/organizations will nominate two members to compete in the race. One leg from each participant will be tied together and the pair will have to race down to the cones and back. Check in for the event will start promptly at 11:30 on the UA Mall. Funds Arizona Assurance Scholarship - Increases the number of low-income Arizona residents attending and graduating from the University of Arizona, providing financial aid and support services to retain and graduate students. Arizona Student Opportunity Fund - Supports student retention initiatives and priorities. Arizona Undergraduate Scholarship Fund - This fund supports students in good standing and is vital to the University’s vision to promote realization of human potential and the removal of economic barriers to higher education. Each scholarship goes to a student recipient throughout their Wildcat journey if they remain in good academic standing; this means they are free to explore any discipline of study and to change majors without economic hardship. Athletics (Wildcat Scholarship Fund) - The official scholarship fund of Arizona Athletics that was established to support Arizona’s 21 individual sports that supports room, board, books, fees and meals for 500+ student-athletes. Campus Pantry - Over 900 students, faculty and staff are served each week, and the cost to stock the Pantry is approximately $3,000 per week. Counseling & Psych Services (CAPS) - The CAPS team of psychologists, therapists, counselors and social workers are dedicated to helping students thrive personally and academically. Whether through one-on-one support, group counseling or self-help, CAPS supports students who are facing anxiety, depression, alcohol or drug use, sexual assault, trauma and more. Greek Legacy Endowed Fund - A student led scholarship and academic support benefiting deserving members of our Greek community who need financial assistance. Hispanic Serving Institute Initiatives - The University of Arizona is proud to be the first four-year public university in the state of Arizona to be federally recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). HSI initiatives touch on every facet of the university, from outreach efforts with our K-20 partners, to our hiring practices, to how we teach and support students, to our alumni engagement and connection to the community. As a result of being a Hispanic Serving Institution, we are able to provide Hispanic students with many scholarship, internship and conference opportunities, as well as peer coaching for career readiness. On-Campus Housing Stipends - Support that helps students afford housing during school can be set up to benefit any UAZ student or specific populations, such as students enrolled in the Fostering Success program. President's Directed Scholarship Fund - Supports students who are currently in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Propel U Forward - Provides various programs and mentorship to scholarship recipients from UAZ’s multi-cultural alumni clubs. This student retention program ensures that scholarship recipients have the resources to succeed academically on campus and in their future careers. Richard H. Tyler Student Emergency Fund - Supports students who are in danger of withdrawing due to an unexpected, temporary financial hardship as a result of illness, family crisis, natural disaster, or any other situation deemed an emergency or crisis. The fund assists UAZ students by providing subsidies solely for unexpected emergency expenses. University Libraries - Supports the loan library for technology like laptops and textbooks, spaces for working in groups and digital subscriptions for research. The Arizona Alumni Association serves more than 290,000 alumni living throughout the 50 U.S. states and in more than 150 countries. We offer programs and services to all alumni including activities through alumni chapters and clubs, communications, travel, membership and special events.
