Description

Enjoy a night at The Refillery learning the history, cultural significance, and techniques of Furoshiki fabric gift wrap Tis the season! You’ve made your list, checked it twice and nowww for the wrapping… If you’re like me, you have a love hate relationship with gift wrapping. You love putting your extra personal touch on a gift but you hate the time it takes for it all to just end up in the trash! It’s time to eliminate all those trash bags full of wrapping paper and ribbon while keeping the personal touch. Fabric gift wrap is an easy zero-waste solution that’s grounded in Japanese culture, called Furoshiki. In partnership with The Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania, enjoy a night at The Refillery learning the history, cultural significance, and techniques of Furoshiki. 100% of your ticket price goes directly to support The Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania. BYO Fabric or we will have some options available for purchase! (Cotton fabric works best with sizes approx 18-20" square for small and 26-27" square for medium boxes.) You’re welcome to bring some of your actual gifts to check off your list but we’ll also have some boxes for you to practice on. Mark your calendars for Thursday, December 16th at our store in Squirrel Hill (1931 Murray Ave). Instruction and wrapping will be from 6-7 pm with light snacks and drinks to follow. Masks required during instruction and wrapping.
