Description
Holiday storytelling unlike others. Learn all about Christmas Cryptids like Krampus, Mari Lywd and more. Settle in on Solstice weekend as we welcome in-haus diviner and herbalist, Rissa back to the floor of our Dark Gallery for an evening exploring thirteen tales of unmerry monsters. You might recognize her from herb classes, as well as tea leaf & smoke readings, but tonight, she will give insight towards a whole different kind of reading. Krampus is just the beginning of the holiday beast line-up. Maybe get to know Mari Lwyd, a skeleton horse who challenges people in a battle of rhymes? How about the French whipping father, le Pere Fouttard? Locally, we must be on the lookout for a visit from the Belsnickel. Maybe you think your decor is up to snuff for inspection by The Yule Goat? Hope you're ready for the Yule Goat, because there may be a drop-in (via video, for safety, of course). How do you celebrate the season? Are you ready to meet the unmerry monsters of Christmas? Join us for this darker look at holiday legends and lore, and discover the shady backend of the most wonderful time of the year ~ or as we like to think of it, a Creepy Little Christmas. Tickets will sell out quickly, as we are limited in capacity. Proceeds will benefit Lancaster Farm Sanctuary, a place close to Rissa's heart, where Yule goats, as well as horses, cows, llamas, chickens, pigs, and other beautiful animals find a compassionate forever home. Tickets to this vegan-friendly event include vegan snacks, a portion of tickets benefiting LFS, spooky entertainment, Smoking Bishops (for 21+) tasting, and folkloric fun. Not appropriate for guests under 18 years old. The Dark Parlour is a unique shopping experience designed to enlighten the curious and create a home for the strange. A Haus of Obscurities, offering dark art, antiques and oddities with a focus on the following sub-genres of interest: medical, funerary/mourning, taxidermy and the occult. Everyday is Halloween in the shop, where real medical human skeletons wait with a toothy grin to greet you at the door. A destination spot to shop and learn about the darker things in this world. More than a natural history museum, The Dark Parlour is a one stop experience to fill your senses with dark aesthetics and purchase something for your curio shelves.
