Job Description This position shall have general responsibilities of the daily operation of the Washington Crop Improvement Association Foundation Seed Program conditioning plant and warehouse under the direction of the Association Manager. Administrative Under the direction of the Association Manager and with the assistance of the FSS Operations Supervisor set up and carry out the conditioning plant scheduling, workflow planning, and other issues as they arise. In coordination with the FSS Office Manager keep accurate records of quantity and location of all varieties and species of foundation seed currently in FSS program. Seed Conditioning Operations Manage conditioning activities such as scalping, screening, gravity operation, color sorting; set equipment in cleaning plant to clean seed, monitor cleaning results and adjust equipment settings as required and clean mill equipment between seed runs as to meet certified seed standards. Carryout or assist in general repair and maintenance of WSCIA conditioning plant. Supervise and carryout treating, bagging, labeling, tagging, and palletizing of foundation seed Collect and segregate seed samples collected of pre mill and conditioned product and turn these samples over to the FSS Office Manager for shipping to WSDA seed lab for certification purposes. Under supervision of the Association Manager supervise and manage the compliance with mixture prevention procedures by warehouse employees in all phases of conditioning and bagging. Hold and maintain a WA State Pesticide Applicator license Supervise and work with other full time and part time employees in warehouse and plant operations. Train and supervise all temporary employees hired to work in the Foundation Seed warehouse and cleaning facility. Operates all seed cleaning equipment, processes all seed, and provides on a daily basis all relevant and required paperwork for certification purposes in Washington State. Warehouse Operations Operate forklift during loading and unloading of foundation seed stocks and complete appropriate paperwork associated with the loading and unloading of certified seed stocks. Distribute product, stage seed for shipment, and receive seed from other warehouses and farms. Assist as needed in harvest activities such as receiving & hauling of harvested crop. Maintain and hold CDL to operate the Association trucks. Organize, and place foundation seed into storage, and assist management in proper inventory management and paperwork Farm operations Assist in planting and maintenance of seed fields, including the application and record keeping of all herbicides and insecticides used at the WSU Othello Research Farm Assume other responsibilities and perform other duties as may be assigned by the WSCIA-FSS Operations Supervisor or Association Manager.
