POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — The Point Pleasant Beach Borough Council is scheduled to hold a second hearing and vote on a proposed ordinance that would put additional restrictions on short-term rentals in the borough. The ordinance, which can be found on the council agenda, would bar short-term rentals such as through AirBnb of less than seven days. The borough has over the years enacted various ordinances to maintain a residential quality for neighborhoods in the town, including its so-called "animal house" ordinance. Over the last few years, short-term rentals have become problematic in a multitude of towns, and many have restricted or completely banned them. The council meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be livestreamed. The Point Pleasant Borough zoning and planning boards are scheduled to meet this week but agendas were not posted online for either meeting as of the weekend. If you were unable to attend the game, the Point Pleasant Boro football team fell to Haddonfield, 28-27 in the Central/South Group 2 regional championship on Saturday. NJ.com livestreamed the game. Point Boro, which finished the season 10-2, scored on its first three offensive possessions, but in the second half, Haddonfield roared back from a 21-6 deficit to win. The Panthers mounted a last-minute comeback, scoring a touchdown in the waning seconds of the game, but the point-after kick missed, giving Haddonfield the victory. If you missed the Point Pleasant Borough Christmas tree lighting, the borough posted photos on its Facebook page.
