AUSTIN, TX — The Travis County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death of an elderly Austin woman a homicide after she died over the summer at a local care facility.
Mary Wynn, 93, died on Aug. 11 after she was assaulted by her 79-year-old roommate at a memory care facility on June 10, the Travis County Sheriff's Office said Friday.
Deputies said they received a 911 call for an assault at a memory care facility in the 11100 block of Circle Drive back in June. When they arrived, they found Wynn with sustained injuries and had her taken to a local hospital.
Officials said Wynn died about two months later while living at a different care facility.
On Dec. 1, the sheriff's office was notified by the local medical examiner that their investigation ruled Wynn's death a homicide. The office said the 93-year-old had died of injuries sustained during the assault on June 10.
TCSO said it has been working closely with the Travis County District Attorney's Office throughout the investigation and states no charges will be filed.
