JOLIET, IL — Richard Graveen, a 20-year-old Joliet resident, was arrested Saturday evening after attacking one of his relatives with a baseball bat, according to Joliet police. A Joliet Fire Department ambulance brought the victim to St. Joe's hospital for treatment, police said.
The violence happened at Graveen's apartment house in the 100 block of Bridge Street, which is just up the hill from the Jackson Street Bridge.
Graveen has been charged with domestic battery, police said. Joliet patrol units got called to the domestic disturbance call around 6:25 p.m.
"Further investigation revealed that during an argument in the residence, Graveen and the victim became engaged in a fight in which Graveen struck the victim in the head with a baseball bat," police spokesman Dwayne English announced. "Once they were separated, Graveen called 911. Graveen was taken into custody without incident."
