Resettlement Coordinator (full-time) The Refugee Center is looking for a Resettlement Coordinator to join our team to support refugee and immigrant clients with resettlement. The Refugee Center (TRC), with an office in Champaign, IL, exists to provide services essential to refugee and immigrant resettlement in East Central Illinois, and to aid in the exchange and preservation of their respective cultures. Globally aware but locally focused, our professional, compassionate staff provide interpretation services and advocacy in court hearings, doctors' appointments, school conferences, and other settings. For 40 years, we’ve helped people find stability in their new homes through counseling, tutoring, community health programs, and support in completing paperwork for work, school, and government programs. The Resettlement Coordinator will be a key member of our Program team to organize and execute on activities around the initial 90 day process for newly arrived refugee clients to meet resettlement goals. The Coordinator will be supervised by the Program Director. This is a full-time position and has the opportunity to work in a hybrid office environment if preferred, working from both home and the office. Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate program around all activities for 90 day resettlement period for new immigrant and refugee clientsReception & PlacementAct as first point of contact for agencies regarding new resettlementsWork with community partners and local resources to find temporary and permanent housing situations for clientsPerform safety checks on-site of potential client housing to ensure locations have everything needed for arriving familiesArrange and ensure proper logistics for arriving clients at the airport including interpretation services and transportationSecure and organize all initial resources, including cell phones, food, and household needsIntake FacilitationWork with Program team to assign a social worker to new client casesSchedule and coordinate an intake of clients within 48 hours of arrival Meet with social worker to discuss an assessment of family needs and develop a service planContribute as needed to social worker’s case notes and ensure file is complete and accurateProgram AdministrationProactively assess what is needed for the program and clients, and propose solutions for how to bridge any gaps Collaboratively work with team to create, research, and make available educational resources for clients to promote acclimation and understandingTrack resettlement program expenses and to which grant those funds applyCommunicate internally across departments and teams regarding updates with the resettlement programCommunity EngagementAttend meetings with resettlement agencies, local authorities, and community groupsDevelop and foster partnerships, communicating needs of client base and using creating opportunities for local support to fill needsCommunicate back any critical partner updates internally and work with leadership on any broader strategy changes Work with Volunteer Coordinator to communicate in-kind donation needs and potential volunteer placements for the resettlement program Required qualifications: Working experience at a nonprofit organizationHigh level of organizational skills and detail orientationProactive and solutions focussedAbility to assess changing information and adapt in a growing programStrong relationship building and management skills Empathy and understanding for refugees and immigrants Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAble to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and situationsExperience working with people from different culturesAbility to conduct site visits outside of the office at potential housing locations Nice to have: Fluency in any of the languages spoken in Afghanistan especially Pashto and/or DariKnowledge of and experience in refugee resettlement Experience working in program management, social work, direct service, and/or immigrant populationsExperience with project managementKnowledge of community resources, community organizing, and/or engaging stakeholdersUnderstanding of trauma informed care Compensation & Benefits: Salary starts at $35,360/year less applicable withholdingsMonthly stipend for healthcare coverageMonthly stipend for mobile phone usageThe Refugee Center is working closely with public health professionals to meet and exceed safety guidance for our staff and clients. Based on their advice, we have recently opened our office to the public in order to meet the continued and growing crises in our refugee communities. Clients and staff are required to wear masks at all times that they are in our office and we are currently requiring staff to either provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or take a weekly COVID-19 test.
