ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A 54-year-old Arlington Heights man suffered a medical episode Monday morning and crashed his SUV into a residential building, according to police. The single motor vehicle crash happened at around 4:25 a.m. in the 500 block of E. Circle Hill.
The man was able to exit his vehicle with minor injuries, but was taken to Northwest Community Hospital for further evaluation due to the medical issue. No one in the building was injured.
Police and fire officials were dispatched to the home, located on the southeast corner of E. Valley Lane and E. Circle Hill Drive, at around 4:25 a.m, according to police. The man was driving his 2014 Chevrolet Traverse westbound on E. Valley Lane and suffered the medical episode when approaching E. Circle Hill Drive. The SUV drifted across the eastbound lanes of E. Valley Lane and left the roadway.
The SUV initially struck a wooden fence before it penetrated the east wall of the building.
Impairment is not suspected in the accident, according to police.
The Arlington Heights Building Department responded to the scene and temporarily deemed thestructure uninhabitable due to the damage.
