GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — The hottest New York City neighborhoods in 2022 are a mix of Manhattan swank and Brooklyn "cool," and Greenwich Village is near the very top of the ranking, according to a new study. SoHo topped StreetEasy's "NYC Neighborhoods To Watch In 2022" released Friday, but Greenwich Village was named the third hottest nabe in the five boroughs for the coming year. StreetEasy compiled the list based on what buyers, renters and sellers wanted this year, according to the study. Those were ranked by increases in sales prices, rents and user searches year-over-year. Last year, Brooklyn dominated the list," the study states. "It does this year, too — but the borough's popularity has spread even further, to the neighborhoods next door to last year's entries. For example, this year we see Gowanus instead of Park Slope." Manhattan's hottest neighborhoods, including Greenwich Village, also turned out to be some of its most expensive, the study found. The perks of Lower Manhattan's stores, restaurants, and nightlife having reopened after pandemic closures has re-upped the interest of living downtown for New Yorkers who can afford it.
