MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — Mountain Brook High School senior Julianne Abenoja was crowned "Miss Olympian 2022" at the high school's annual pageant last month.
Abenoja was one of 12 contestants in the Nov. 20 event, which was held in the high school's Fine Arts Center. Each contestant performed a talent — Abenoja danced to "Elephants" by Rachel Yamagata — and all were presented in evening wear, school officials said.
Other winners included Lizzie Amberson, 1st runner up; Annabella Foster, 2nd runner up; and Anne Kelley, Miss Congeniality.
In addition to the nominees, 2021 Miss Olympian Kendall Crabtree performed, as did emcees. The event also featured "entertainment from various high school guys," officials said.
"A special thanks to all of the Miss Olympian pageant staff members, sponsors, judges, school staff, and multiple others who made the event one to remember," officials said on the school's website.
The event was the 55th annual Miss Olympian annual competition. It was co-directed by MBHS seniors Frances Vandevelde and Camille Emblom, Village Living reported.
