Is Austin a good City for professional musicians?

I'm a musician and I'm looking at a few different cities for possible relocation in around a year from now. I've heard talk about the Austin music scene so I'm checking in to see how it is for professional musicians in all styles of music in both original and cover bands? Pop, rock, metal, funk, jazz, classic rock, etc. Is Austin a good town for professional musicians looking to make a sustainable living with potential of breaking into the national and international market (original music) and cover bands (on the local level) as compared to some other cities like Washington DC, Minneapolis, Boston? More of the secondary market cities is what I'm referring to (not New York or LA. Cost of living in those cities is just outrageous. And from what I know quality of life in both of those cities has taken an extreme nosedive anyway). Any info anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
