KEY PURPOSE OF ROLE Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for ensuring the facility equipment is maintained and in production. This position is also responsible for the availability of parts for the machines in the facility. The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Project Engineer. RESPONSIBILITIES The key responsibilities are: • Performs Preventative Maintenance on facility and plant equipment per written PM’s. • Records findings on PM worksheets issued by manager. • This includes such activities as lubrication, part replacement and general adjustment. • Performs daily maintenance on plant equipment as necessary. • Seeks assistance when confronted with unfamiliar issues. • Must perform duties in a manner consistent with drug, medical device and cosmetic GMP’s. • Must keep tools clean and account for tools used on each job to prevent product contamination and equipment damage. • Develops rapport with plant operators in order to gather information regarding existing and developing equipment problems and failures that result in inefficiencies and potential shut-down. • Suggest changes and modifications to equipment in order to improve production capacity, reduce setup and sanitation time etc. • Assists with keeping and developing spare parts inventories. • Assists Engineering with operation of Wastewater Pre-treatment system and other duties as needed. • Keep work areas clean and orderly. • Ability to work with all levels of personnel. • Work safely and observe plant safety rules. Bilingual skills are a plus. • Minimum 4 years related experience in repairing packaging machinery and related equipment. • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus. • Demonstrated ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams as it relates to trouble-shooting and maintenance. • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. • Must be willing to take courses as needed to improve knowledge on job related topics • May use personal tools • Use good personal hygiene • Physically capable performing tasks associated with the responsibilities, such as but not limited to: • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb ladders; work on an elevated platform or surface; and talk or hear. • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Desirable skills/experience/ qualifications: • Spanish as a secondary language preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. Also will perform tasks inside cleanroom and must follow cleanroom work instructions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
