High quality art wanted for participation in The 2022 Edwardian Ball at the Regency Ballroom, February 4-5th in San Francisco. Now accepting applications in drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, assemblage, collage, interactive and installation media, in all sizes. Works must be original. Style reference points include Victorian, steampunk, retrofuturist, gothic, vaudeville, circus, and of course our muse, Edward Gorey. Think: Bones, taxidermy, natural sciences inspired, weird old knickknack, pretty ladies, corsets, humorously dark narratives, inventive machines, decorative filigree, fairy tales, witchy wonders, art nouveau, art deco, romantic antique, carney oddities, carnival clowns, strange parades, mystical mechanics, spooky spiritualism... The Color Palette: When thinking about the color palette, we lean toward illuminated dark elegance, warm hues and metallic tones, shadow and light. Please send the following for consideration: 1) Your contact info and relevant web links to images and/or website and social media presences. 2) Details about your art, including media, size, etc, and whether you are offering the art for sale or as just a display. 3) Images of the specific pieces you wish to show, if possible. Works in progress and proposals are fine for now if you have finished works in a similar style to show as reference. 4) The Final Images Deadline for is January 15th, but we encourage you to apply early. We love to see works in progress with updates over the next few weeks so that we can gauge submissions and promote what you're doing. Submission does not guarantee acceptance! The Edwardian Ball holds our art submissions to a high standard. Please send us your BEST work, preferably creations we haven't already seen. NOTE: Small or delicate pieces, or small series of works MUST come framed together in a shadow box, or mounted securely onto larger hangable objects. Also, Sculpture should be submitted with a plan for display. If your work is fragile, or tempting to touch, please plan accordingly. Photography is preferred in black & white or sepia tone, or, collaged - something other than a modern looking photo. As a thank you for your participation, Artists will receive 1 complimentary ticket to 1 night of their choosing. Social media cross promotion to our well-heeled crowd of connoisseurs and the possibility of sales with a small commission (25%). We have been getting a lot of press the last few years, so participation with your best work and early submissions will give you a shot at getting coverage with local media!
