MILFORD, MA — Welcome to the Dec. 6 edition of Monday Manual, where we highlight important events coming up during the week (plus a local fact) in seven Patch communities between Framingham and Worcester. This week we're starting in Milford, which had a starring role in the show "The Bachelor." Milford native Brendan Morais went home with "Bachelor in Paradise" season 7 contestant Pieper James, and the two appear to still be happily in a relationship. 1) Milford You can cheer the Milford Youth Cheerleading U14 squad this week. They're headed to Orlando to compete in a national cheerleading championship on Friday. The squad placed second at the regional championship in Bridgeport, Conn., before Thanksgiving. 2) Worcester Should Worcester have a civilian review board to oversee police? The Board of Health will discuss the issue on Monday. Police department leaders have been against the idea, but the board has persisted for more than a year in trying to address police brutality as a public health issue. 3, 4) Wayland, Natick U.S. Rep Katherine Clark, D-Melrose, will join elected officials from Natick and Wayland to discuss federal funding for local water systems. Both towns have recently discovered high PFAS levels in drinking water, and a new federal infrastructure bill contains about $55 billion to help reduce those levels. Clark will speak at the South Natick Dam, 9 Pleasant Street, near 1 p.m. 5) Framingham The public works department on Wednesday will host the final meeting on the city's new Transportation Master Plan. The document will guide future upgrades to roads, sidewalks, bike lanes and much more. 6) Sudbury This is the last week to participate in the Camp Sewataro scavenger hunt. The hunt, which began on Nov. 27, is part of the town's "Sweater Throwdown" contest. Residents who complete the hunt get gift cards to Coffee Works. 7) Marlborough The Marlborough City Council will set tax rates on Monday. The proposed 2022 rate of $13.12 per $1,000 of value is 68 cents lower than 2021. But the bill for a resident with a home of average value in Marlborough will likely see a $72 increase in 2022 due to rising values.
