Christmas comes early this year for the Homeless. POWER CHANGES LIVES INC presents LavaLove® “Christmas for the Homeless” Pop-Up Care Village (PUCV). On Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, LavaLove® invites community partners, the public, and our special guests – the homeless, to attend the Pop-Up Care Village (PUCV). All sheltered and unsheltered homeless guests will be provided a backpack containing hygiene kits, a hot shower, access to all community resource partners clothing, a hot meal – and lots of LavaLove®. Community Partners and the public MUST RSVP by December 9, 2021, at https://LavaLovePUCV.eventbrite.com. Unsheltered and unsheltered homeless guests do not require reservations and can walk-in at any time. Community Partners are invited to attend this special event held at the Morristown United Methodist Church in Morristown, NJ as a soft-launch preview of LavaLove® mobile trailer’s ribbon-cutting ceremony planned for January 2022. The 29’ custom-designed trailer provides a 3-unit shower, sink, toilet, washing machine, dryer, barber station and resource room for ancillary services (medical, dental and vision) provide transactional on-site services our most vulnerable in the community. After the trailer’s first deployment in Morristown, NJ (Morris County), LavaLove® will rapidly expand to Newark, NJ (Essex County), New York City, NY, Paterson, NJ (Passaic County), Phillipsburg, NJ (Warren County), Trenton, NJ (Mercer County), and Atlantic City, NJ (Atlantic County). Organizations who wish to provide free resources, supplies and services to our unhoused guests, can reserve a table at no-cost. Volunteers are needed to provide extra-ordinary services to guests in the areas of intake, shower prep and cleaning, clothing distribution, hygiene supply distribution and ancillary services (medical, dental and vision). Volunteers should reach out directly through the website to sign-up. This event is also open to the public with the goal to form community bonds with the unhoused, raise awareness and bring visibility to the often-forgotten neighbors within the community. Reservations are on a first-come, first-reserved basis until the capacity has been reached. Dinner will be served to all guests. PLEASE BRING A WRAPPED GIFT FOR THE HOMELESS.
