For the afternoon, Tide sophomore quarterback and Heisman Trophy frontrunner Bryce Young went 26-for-44 through the air for 421 yards and three scores. The nimble signal-caller also had 40 yards on the ground on just three attempts.
As part of the effort, Young broke the record for most passing yards in the SEC Championship game — a mark previously held by his former teammate and New England Patriot's quarterback Mac Jones.
Senior Jameson Williams led the receiving corps on the night with seven catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns. This came at the same time star receiver John Metchie III, who had a touchdown grab during the game, missed a large part of the game with a leg injury.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Crimson Tide struggled to slow down Georgia's high-powered offense, allowing the Bulldogs to gain 449 total yards of offense, compared to Alabama's 537.
The loss for Georgia will likely do little to impact its chances of being selected to the College Football Playoff ahead of Sunday's final CFP rankings, while the win for Alabama drastically improves the Crimson Tide's hopes of another national title.
The College Football Playoff Committee will unveil its final rankings Sunday at noon.
