Ride from Riverdale Park to DC: memorial chalk-in + lunch / shopping at Downtown Holiday Market. **This event will be updated by 8:00am If ride needs to be canceled due to weather. ** 1) This social pace (10-12 mph) 20 mile ride is approximately 4.5 hours including a stops at a memorial chalk-in and the downtown holiday market for lunch and shopping. We will be on a mix of streets with and without bike lanes as well as trails. Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38133826 2) Bring: a metro farecard, fully charged cellphone, bikelock, money / credit card, flat kit/spare tube, mask for the chalk in and to duck inside stores if needed. (we’ll eat outside). If we can recruit an additional leader and sweep, we can accomodate additional riders. Please reach out to Rumi if you can volunteer to be a leader or sweep! Itinerary 10am: Riverdale Park Train Station: meet up for ride briefing and departure. 11am: Chalk-in for Allie. A memorial for 5 year old cyclist Allison Hart, who was killed by traffic violence at this intersection at 14th and Irving Street NW. Chalk-in to FILL the intersection with Allison's favorites: flowers and heart and send a message that our children need safe streets NOW. Noonish: Downtown Holiday Market: Lunch and shopping F Street NW between 7th and 9th Streets NW outside the National Portrait Gallery and Smithsonian American Art Museum. 2:30pmish: return to the RP train station (All times approximate)
