Class will teach first time woodturners how to make a their own simple pen on the lathe. Pens make for great holiday gifts, especially if they are hand-made BY YOU! In this extended pen-turning workshop, students will select, cut, and drill out their blanks before moving over to the lathe. Additional Notes Materials will be provided for students.This class may serve as a substitute for Wood Turning 1 for those looking to become certified on the lathe.Required Prior Classes at Technocopia This extended class requires that participants have already completed Wood Shop 1, Wood Shop 4 tool trainings with us. Those who have not yet completed these courses are encouraged to sign up for our other Pen Turning posting for the same times! Technocopia is a non-profit makerspace located in Worcester, Massachusetts. Our 11,000 sq. ft. facility offers common work space, rental bays, and a variety of tools for artisans to create and work with. We also host training classes and workshops which make use of our shared work areas including: a complete wood shop, metal shop, 3d printer station, electronics bay, glass flameworking shop, classroom, design studio, and our CNC mill and laser cutter shop! Every Thursday night we are open to the public for our Open Hacks and Crafts event.
