Press release from City School District of Albany: December 3, 2021 The City School District of Albany was notified Friday of four new confirmed cases of COVID-19. The individuals and their unvaccinated contacts are quarantining at home. The first case involves second grade at New Scotland Elementary School, and the individual was last in school Nov. 23. The Albany County Health Department identified no additional contacts with the case. The second case involves third grade at Pine Hills Elementary School, and the individual was last in school Nov. 30. The health department identified six additional contacts with the case; of those, one is vaccinated and does not require quarantine. The third case involves sixth grade at Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School, and the individual was last in school Dec. 1. The health department identified 13 additional contacts; all are required to quarantine. Friday's fourth and final case involves Thomas O'Brien Academy of Science and Technology (TOAST), and the individual was last in school Nov. 30. The health department identified one additional contact with the case; that person is vaccinated and does not require quarantine. Health and safety procedures at all district buildings continue to include cleaning and sanitizing. We will continue with these procedures, and also will continue to follow all required COVID-19 precautions (wearing masks inside all district buildings, hand hygiene, social distancing of 3 feet or more in all classrooms, and other precautions).
