Guitarist looking to form cover band - with a twist

Warren MI

Description

I'm 36 from Warren, been playing guitar for a long time, but for some time I haven't been as interested in music as I used to be. I've got a full time job, I've got a young kid. But I want to get out there and find that love for playing music again, and I want to do it with some good friends and good music. So here's the twist - I don't want to play the "hits". I'm so sick of hearing crap like Highway to Hell and Paradise City and all those radio rock songs that have been on repeat for the last 40 years. I want to play music that I still enjoy listening to, not something I've heard 10,000 times already and that I'm going to dread playing for other people who *might* want to hear it. I'm not in it for any money - I will play for free. I just want to have fun and make new friends and meet new people. So what if people don't know the songs at the start? We can tell them the name and artist of all the songs and if they like it, they can look it up. And if they're regulars at venues and we play regularly, they may just grow to recognize and remember the songs we play. I think people have this misconception that other people only want to hear music they already know. I don't think that's the case, and if you look at the rise of music streaming services over the years, I think it's clear to see. Anyway, I want to generally play upbeat or fast paced music (doesn't necessarily have to ALL be fast paced, but this is what I would enjoy playing the most). Here are some examples of tunes I would want to play: Daddy Rock - Raise a Glass https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w111h1TL-O8 Wovenwar - Archers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP2XSNqOeIw The Menzingers - Lookers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JF8F_NTSwdc Foo Fighters - Good Grief https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUAbQEenPCs Green Day - Westbound Sign https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8YYBtLSLM0 Atreyu - Doomsday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mup4JDs2BaM Scary Kids Scaring Kids - Snake Devil https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUkRRXhcUnU And here's my website where I post my own original music. I only started recording and posting this music about a year ago, and it's been a bit slow going, but should give you an idea of my skill level. I did everything on these tracks myself, from the writing to the recording and performing. It's all me (drums are programmed, and although I do play, I'm probably not quite as good on a live kit). https://twolivesworthofreckoning.bandcamp.com/ The first two tracks are more upbeat rock songs and probably better showcase my abilities. Here's to hoping I can find some like-minded individuals.
