Carl Filipiak has earned critical acclaim as one of today’s most dynamic jazz guitarists. Carl Filipiak has earned critical acclaim as one of today’s most dynamic jazz guitarists. Jazziz Magazine included him among a renowned list of guitar players in their nominations for “New Fusion Blood,” and JazzTimes calls him “a dazzlingly versatile guitarist.” Many of his recordings and performances have paired him with some of the industry’s finest musicians. Turner Broadcasting and NBC Sports have featured Carl’s music in several televised events, including the Olympics. Carl Filipiak and the Jimi Jazz Band released their third album “What Now” on Geometric Records featuring originals co-written by the band and a version of the Beatles “Strawberry Fields Forever”. “What Now” has been on the RMR Top 50 Jazz Album Chart for 20 weeks peaking at #2! It reached #4 on the NACC Top 30 Jazz Chart and made the Most Added Chart at Jazzweek. The band includes Carl Filipiak on guitar, Frank Young on drums, Paul Hannah on sax, Matt Everhart on bass, and newest member, Rachel Hall Pickett, on vocals. The Arts Collective is a 501(c)(3) organization created to address the cultural and economic needs of Havre de Grace and the surrounding region.  The Arts Collective has several goals. First, to bring regional and national high caliber performances to The Cultural Center at the Opera House that engage and attract audiences.  Second, to further develop the Arts and Entertainment (A&E) District program of the State of Maryland attracting artists to live, work and play in Havre de Grace.  Third, to enhance the arts by serving as the umbrella organization for the Arts by The Bay Gallery, serving as a cooperative gallery and offering educational opportunities which nurture learning and creativity.
