Do you find yourself at Christmas without family? Is your family estranged, or far away? As many of us watch Hallmark movies full of heartwarming scenarios, it often feels like we're the only ones with broken family relationships - but that's just not true. Close knit families are a rarity these days, and Hallmark is pretend. In reality, people move and relationships change, and small family issues develop into silence. Like many families, we've experienced all of that, and the holidays seem to make a person alone feel worse. We have found ourselves in this exact type of situation, and although it's painful and embarrassing, we're going to try and find new "family" relationships and hopefully help others as well. I'll start with us - newly retired and looking for new relationships. Most of our kids/grand kids live far away. One child lives closer but like many millennials is not interested in a close family connection. If you are looking for a brother, sister, parent, grandparents, etc, let's see if we can find a match. Family is important year round, but family does not have to be blood relation, just someone with kindness to share, and a desire to be part of a family unit. Life can be hard, and no one deserves to be alone. Together we can make sure that everyone has someone to rely on. We know how hard this can be, but let's try to make a difference.
