Join us for this 7 mile hike on the Bill Craft Trail and learn to recognize the signs of Spring. Welcome to our Winter Holiday Hike Series. This is a reoccurring program of guided hikes that will focus on enjoying and exploring nature in the winter months. Dress appropriately and bring plenty of water and snacks. Each hike is free, but pre-registration is required. Donations are encouraged (see below). January through March. - January 1st New Year’s Day Hike on the Nat Greene Trail https://www.eventbrite.com/e/222266995567 Hike starts at 9 am. Meet at the Lake Brandt Marina parking lot, 5945 Lake Brandt Rd, Greensboro. The gate will open at 8:30 am. This hike will be 5.6 miles and take roughly 3 hours. Please dress in layers and be prepared for the weather. Bring water. Participants are asked to bring canned goods or new/gently used coats or blankets for donation to Urban Ministries. - January 17th MLK Day Hike on the Piedmont Trail https://www.eventbrite.com/e/222303213897 Hike starts at 9 am. Meet at the Piedmont Trail parking lot on Lake Brandt Rd, near the Lake Brandt Marina. If you need assistance finding the trail, please call the marina office. This hike will be 6 miles and take roughly 3 hours. Please dress in layers and be prepared for the weather. Bring water. To observe this day of service, the focus of this hike will be collecting litter along the way. - February 12th Valentine's Hike on the Palmetto Trail https://www.eventbrite.com/e/222308589977 Hike starts at 9 am. Meet at the Palmetto Trail Head on Old Battleground Rd, just south of White Horse Drive. This hike will be 2.8 miles and take roughly 2 hours. We will use the Palmetto Trail, the Greenway, and the Nat Greene Trail to make a loop back to the parking lot. Please dress in layers and be prepared for the weather. Bring water. For this Valentine's Hike bring your loved ones, big or small, 2 legs or 4 legs (dogs must be on leash). Participants are asked to bring dog food or cat food for donations to the SPCA. - March 19th Spring Equinox Hike on the Bill Craft Trail Hike starts at 9 am. Meet at the trailhead parking lot at 368 Plainfield Road. This trail is in the Richardson-Taylor Preserve. This hike will be 7 miles and take roughly 3 hours. Please dress in layers and be prepared for the weather. Bring water. The focus of this hike will be to learn about and recognize the signs of spring.
