This traditional candlelight service of lessons and carols celebrates the season of Advent, the time to prepare your heart for Christ. Before you dive into the frenzied month of December, join us for a liturgy of words and song, of quiet and beauty, of intentional listening and communal singing in a sacred space. In this service, you will hear traditional scripture alongside poetry by Gerard Manley Hopkins. All four of Calvary's choirs will participate--including the Calvary Ringers, St. Cecilia Choir, the Boys and Girls Choir, and Calvary Choir--offering anthems by Barbara Kinyon, Jean Berger, Cecilia McDowall, Boris Ord, Gerre Hancock, Jonathan Dove, Hugo Distler, and Craig Phillips. All are welcome to this free Advent Service of Lessons & Carols.
