Nearly 2-Year Closure Of Assabet River Bridge Starts In December

MAYNARD, MA — Starting in December, a bridge over the Assabet River in downtown Maynard will close for nearly two years for a replacement, according to MassDOT. The $3.4 million Florida Road Bridge bridge replacement will begin in the morning on Dec. 13, and will last until about June 2023, according to MassDOT. The Florida Road Bridge crosses the Assabet River north from Main Street (Route 62) and connects to Summer Street. Drivers will detour around the bridge using Main Street, Nason Street and Summer Street. The Assabet River Rail Trail crosses Florida Road just south of the bridge and will not be closed during construction, according to MassDOT.
