Description
WAUKESHA, WI— A heavy police presence was visible at Waukesha South High School both Thursday and Friday due to conflict and physical altercations between students, according to the Waukesha School District.
"These situations were immediately responded to and de-escalated by South administration, school staff, and the Waukesha Police Department," the district said.
Discipline for those incidents may include suspensions, pre-expulsion hearings, and potential board of education expulsion proceedings based on the level of endangerment to others, the district said.
Parents are asked to talk with their children about maintaining safe behavior.
"In particular, when conflict begins, we need students to both remove themselves from the situation and immediately report it to an adult. Students who insert themselves into the conflict, record it on their cellular phone, or add to the conflict in any way only further endanger the health and safety of others," the district said.
Waukesha West High School students were evacuated Friday following an online threat, the district said.
Waukesha West Principal Ryan Patt received an email Friday morning about a specific threat to students during lunch, the district said.
