BRADENTON, FL — Police are asking for public assistance in finding the driver that critically injured a pedestrian in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 5:50 p.m. in the 900 block of 1st Street West, Bradenton police said in a news release.
As the pedestrian, who hasn't been identified, walked east across 1st Street West, outside the crosswalk, cars in two of the three travel lanes slowed to avoid hitting them.
The driver of a white Chevrolet Tahoe in the third lane was unable to slow down, though, and hit the pedestrian, police said.
The SUV, which had dark tinted windows and chrome rims, left the scene with extensive front-end damage.
The pedestrian is still in critical condition at a local hospital, police said.
