Press release from the County of Dane: December 03, 2021 Elise Schaffer, PIO (608) 284-6142 A Milwaukee man is being held in the Dane County Jail after he led local police agencies on a pursuit Thursday evening. Devon I. Shumpert, age 26, was booked into the Dane County Jail on a probation warrant, but faces additional charges from other jurisdictions. Madison Police first attempted to stop Shumpert at about 5:45 pm, after it was reported he caused a crash on the Beltline near John Nolan Drive. Shumpert fled and the pursuit by Madison Police was terminated. A few minutes later, Monona Police attempted to stop the 2020 Altima, and again, Shumpert fled. A Dane County Sheriff's deputy successfully deployed stop sticks at Monona Drive and Broadway, and with the assistance of the Wisconsin State Patrol, the vehicle was stopped and deputies took Shumpert into custody. Additional charges from the City of Madison Police, the City of Monona Police and the City of Oak Creek Police are pending. This press release was produced by the County of Dane.
