Milford Coronavirus Rate Rising: Big 2-Week Jump In Cases

MILFORD, CT — Connecticut's coronavirus situation continues to move in the wrong direction as winter approaches. The number of people hospitalized with the virus reached its highest point since April. The average number of daily cases continues to rise, and the percentage of tests coming back positive is also elevated. Milford had 26 average daily cases per 100,000 residents and a positive test rate of 5.30 percent between Nov. 14-27, according to the state Department of Public Health. There were 18 average daily cases per 100,000 residents in the previous two-week reporting period. It's important to note that a few cases can have a large impact on a municipal case rate, especially for small towns. Milford recorded 76 new coronavirus cases between Nov 26 and Dec. 2, according to DPH's preliminary data. Around 69 percent of Milford residents are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus as of Dec. 1, according to DPH.
