Child killed in crash Jaidyn Bolduc, 11, of Vernon was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 at 8:17 p.m. Thursday, State Police said in a news release. COVID-19 update for CT All the coronavirus health metrics have been trending in the wrong direction. The infection rate is rising, so are hospitalizations, and the number of reported deaths are also increasing. On Thursday, state officials said the infection rate is currently at 6.52 percent for the previous 24-hour period, the number of hospitalizations is at 414 and the number of deaths rose by 44 over the past week. COVID-19 leads to restaurant closures In Old Saybrook, the Penny Lane Pub was forced to close temporarily due to increasing COVID-19 infections in the community, WFSB 3 TV reports. The restaurant hopes to open early next week the owner said, WFSB 3 reports. The Penny Lane Pub isn't alone as other eateries in town had to close briefly, including the Monkey Farm, which just reopened after closing for a week around Thanksgiving time. (Read More at WFSB 3 TV). 1 killed in I-95 accident Robert Procaccini, 76, of Branford, was killed in a four-vehicle accident on I-95 in New Haven on Thursday afternoon, according to Fox 61. The highway was shut down for several hours. Police said the accident started after a vehicle lost control and hit another car, and this started a chain reaction, and Procaccini's vehicle ended up striking a concrete median. (Read More at Fox 61). 14-year-old shot A teen was injured in a Thursday afternoon shooting in Hartford, according to WTNH News 8. The shooting occurred on Russ Street just after 2 p.m. The injuries were non-life-threatening. (Read more at WTNH News 8). Threat leads to school closure Hamden High School will be closed on Friday, Dec. 3 due to a threat made against the school, according to officials. Superintendent Jody Ian Goeler announced in a post on Twitter that the school would be closed "out of an abundance of caution" to allow police and the administration to "work together to investigate a threat made to the school." School officials received a tip around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday about a threat at Hamden High School regarding "potential gun violence," according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.
