Jingle Bell 5K Run A Festive Way To Support Arthritis Foundation

ARLINGTON, VA — This Saturday, the Arthritis Foundation is offering a way for you to kick off your holiday revelry while getting an early start to your New Years resolution of exercise more. With the foundation's annual Jingle Bell 5K Run/Walk for Arthritis, participants are encouraged to wear holiday attire and get into the spirit of the season. The 5K race takes place Saturday morning at Pentagon Row, 1101 S Joyce St. in Arlington. Pre-registration is closed, but participants can register on Saturday at three levels: $45 for timed 5K; $40 for untimed 5K; and $20 for the kids run. Registered participants will receive a shirt and jingle bells. Pre-registered participants can pick up their packets from 4-7 p.m. in front of the Giant at 2901-11 S Glebe Road. For those who can't make it to the race on Saturday, the Arthritis Foundation is also offering a Virtual Jingler. Registration runs through Dec. 4. Here's the timetable for Saturday: Registration/Packet Pickup - 7:30 a.m.Pre-race Program with Honorees - 8 a.m.Kids Fun Run - 8:15 a.m.5K Race Start - 8:30 a.m.Awards for Runners - 9:45 a.m.Celebratory brunch at Mattie and Eddie'sAwards will be presented for the top overall male and female runners; top individual fundraiser and the biggest team. Awards will also be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age categories: 9 and under, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Arlington County Police will be closing S. Joyce Street, between 15th Street S. and Army Navy Drive from 6-11 a.m. to accommodate the event. Police will also be closing Army Navy Drive, between S. Joyce Street and 25th Street S. from 8-11 a.m. Police will also be posting temporary "No Parking" signs along area streets. Participants and spectators are encouraged to avoid driving to the event and take Metrorail to the Pentagon City Station instead. (Arlington County Police)
