Press release from the City of Paducah: December 2, 2021 The Parks & Recreation Department's award-winning Candy Cane Hunt will be this Saturday, December 4, on the National Quilt Museum's lawn located at 215 Jefferson Street. Registration begins at 11:45 a.m. for this free event where children ages 10 and under race to find candy canes. The children will be divided into four age groups and will race at different times to collect more than 5000 candy canes. The National Quilt Museum will be offering free admission following the event. The hunts will be at 12:30 p.m. for children 3 and under; 12:50 p.m. for children 4 and 5 years of age, 1:10 p.m. for children 6 and 7 years of age, and 1:30 p.m. for children 8 to 10 years old. Parking is available in the Farmers' Market lot. Kids can also take part in the Yeiser Art Center Coloring Contest anytime from noon until 2 p.m. Yeiser will announce the winners next week with prizes for the winning entries. In 2019, the Kentucky Recreation & Park Society named the Candy Cane Hunt as the Class IV Program of the Year. Christmas Parade: The annual City of Paducah Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 4 in downtown Paducah. The parade begins at 5 p.m. at 14th and Broadway and travels down Broadway to 2nd Street. The parade will then turn left on 2nd Street and continue to Monroe Street where it will disband. Parade participants are encouraged to continue moving on 2nd Street toward the Farmers' Market pavilion to maintain the flow of the parade. The theme for the 2021 Christmas Parade is It's a Super Christmas! with music and lighting required on each of the parade's 85 entries. Participants will be celebrating their favorite superheroes, hometown or make-believe. Santa Claus will make a special appearance at the end of the parade riding in a Paducah fire truck.
