Press release from City of San Ramon: 12/02/2021 City of San Ramon News & Information Update Thursday, December 2, 2021 Bah Humbug! 5k Run, Walk & Kids' Dash Saturday, December 4 San Ramon Community Center Bah Humbug! 5k Run/Walk - begins at 9 a.m. Start the holiday season off with a healthy, chip-timed fun run or walk through San Ramon. All participants will receive a holiday long-sleeved t-shirt and the famous Bah Humbug! Ornament. This event is great for families and children! Kids' Dash - begins at 8:20 a.m. The kids' dash is for children ages 4-9 years old. The 1K course will run through portions of Central Park and conclude at the main finish line in front of the San Ramon Community Center. Along the route, we will have designated volunteers located throughout the course keeping participants safe and cheering them on. Children will be grouped by ages 4-6 and 7-9 years old. All participants will receive a holiday long-sleeved t-shirt and the famous Bah Humbug! Ornament. Start & Finish: Both races begin and end at the San Ramon Community Center (12501 Alcosta Blvd). On November 9, 2021, the City Council held the first Public Hearing on the redistricting process. Hosted by the City Clerk's Office, the class goal is to enhance understanding of local government and departmental functions, and encourage participation in the City's various Committees and Commissions. Classes will be held on Mondays from 6:30–9 p.m. starting on February 21, 2022, and will run for eight weeks. The class is free but space is limited and it fills up fast! For more information, please visit the link below. > More Information E-Bike Incentives from 511 Contra Costa: Buy a new e-bike and apply for a cash rebate of $150-300! Over the past 12 months, 511 Contra Costa has issued close to 500 e-bike rebates. They followed up with the new e-bike owners to hear how it has changed the way they travel. Most say they use their e-bikes for recreation and shopping, but many also e-bike to work and school. These new e-bike owners ride an average of two to four times a week, much more often than they did on their traditional bikes. The owners 511 Contra Costa staff spoke with said that e-biking makes them feel happy, energized, and empowered. The biggest benefits of having an e-bike were exercise and recreation, the ability to go longer distances, and riding with less effort – a perfect combination for replacing car trips with e-bike rides. Visit the link below to learn more. > More Information on E-Bike Rebates California's Eviction Protections Changed October 1: Renters and Landlords Impacted by COVID-19 Should Still Apply for Rent Relief The CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program covers 100% of unpaid rent and utilities for eligible renters and their landlords who have been impacted by COVID-19. The program will continue accepting applications until all funds are exhausted. As of October 1, 2021, eligible renters who receive an eviction notice have 15 business days to apply for the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program and notify their landlord that they have applied (or intend to). Applying for assistance may reduce their risk of eviction. As of October 1, 2021, landlords seeking an eviction based on non-payment of COVID-related debt or of rental debt incurred between October 1, 2021 and March 30, 2022, must prove that that they have applied to the COVID-19 Rent Relief program, and that the application has been denied or the renter has failed to complete their section, before a legal eviction can take place. Eligible renters who are at risk of eviction are urged to apply, even if their landlord has not applied. Interested landlords and renters can check eligibility and apply at HousingIsKey.com or by calling 833-430-2122. For assistance in another language, or to verify eligibility, get help with an application or upload paperwork, applicants are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a local organization by calling 833-687-0967. Assistance from the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program does NOT count as earned income for renters and will NOT affect eligibility for any other California state benefit assistance programs, such as CalFresh and CalWORKS. Applying to the program will not impact your residency status or your path to citizenship.
