The Fighting Scots concluded their season Oct. 30 with a record of 5-11-1. — Merit Page News Lewis University students win national award for service The Zeta Xi Chapter in Lewis University's College of Business was recently recognized by the national business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi for its outstanding service. The national award for Outstanding Service Award for a Collegiate Chapter is presented on an annual basis to the collegiate chapter of Delta Sigma Pi that plans and implements the most effective and comprehensive program of service to others. Since the establishment of Zeta Xi Chapter in 1965, the Lewis University chapter has been recognized on 12 previous occasions by Delta Sigma Pi. Close to 1,000 Lewis University students have been inducted into Delta Sigma Pi, most recently 11 new members were inducted this fall. Zeta Xi Chapter includes several local students. Lisset Cuevas of Plainfield (60586) is studying Marketing at Lewis University. Abigail Gustafson of Plainfield (60544) is studying Political Science at Lewis University. Mariam Rafidi of Plainfield (60586) is studying Business Administration at Lewis University. Bob Bergman, Assistant Professor of Marketing and Director of Sales Excellence program, serves as the faculty sponsor. — Merit Page News Plainfield native named CREATE student fellow at MSOE Brianna Davis, from Plainfield (60544), is a member of the Milwaukee School of Engineering's newest cohort of CREATE Student Fellows. Through the CREATE Institute, the fellows are busy at work making an impact on the MSOE community as well as the greater Milwaukee community. Davis is majoring in Computer Science at MSOE. The cohort is comprised of 10 Student Fellows from multiple different majors, each bringing a unique perspective and new ideas. The interdisciplinary cohort is a mix of experienced returning Student Fellows, as well as new fellows ready to bring fresh ideas to the table. "It's great to see the fellows work together and bounce ideas off of each other," said Natalie Villegas, assistant director of experiential learning. "Each student has a unique background and set of skills, so they all think a little differently. This diversity helps them hash out ideas and think about projects from different angles to develop multiple solutions." — Merit Page News Student earns all-conference football honors Shane McGrail, a native of Plainfield, IL, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team, was one of 19 Warhawks who garnered All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors for the 2021 season. Defensive lineman Mackenzie Balanganayi (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) was named WIAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, and quarterback Max Meylor (Mt. Horeb, Wis./Mt. Horeb) was selected WIAC Offensive Player of the Year. Defensive back Kyle Koelblinger (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) earned WIAC Newcomer of the Year honors. In addition, head coach Kevin Bullis was recognized as the George Chryst Co-Coach of the Year, the third such award of his career. — Merit Page News
