Pittsburgh-Area Teacher Accused Of Assaulting Daughter In School

MONONGAHELA, PA — A Ringgold High School teacher faces charges after getting into an altercation last month with her 16-year-old daughter in a classroom at the school. Rachel Roberts, 43, of Monessen faces simple assault and criminal mischief charges. The incident occurred on Nov. 23, when the daughter went to Roberts' classroom and an argument ensued. According to police, Roberts struck her daughter, pushed her to the ground and stood on her stomach. The girl escaped and hid in a nearby stall. Roberts allegedly followed her and began kicking the stall door, police said. Roberts faces a preliminary hearing in January. It could not immediately be determined if she is still teaching while awaiting the hearing. According to her LinkedIn profile, Roberts has been an English teacher in the Ringgold district, in Washington County, for 19 years.
