Pedestrian Fatally Hit On I-57: State Police

ILLINOIS — A pedestrian was fatally hit by a vehicle Friday morning on I-57 near Peotone, state police said. Police said a pedestrian was in a traffic lane on southbound I-57 when they were struck by a passing vehicle at around 7:33 a.m. They were pronounced dead at the scene. All southbound lanes were closed for investigation. The road was closed between Manhattan-Monee Road and Peotone Road. This is a developing story. Check back with Patch for updates.
